Lantern Hollow is the quietest game we've reviewed in a while, and we mean that as praise. You wander a foggy forest with a lantern, solving environmental puzzles and slowly piecing together what happened here. There's no combat, no timer, just you and the mood.
The puzzles are clever without being obscure. Most of them come down to paying attention to the environment — a sound, a light, a path you walked past earlier. We never needed a walkthrough, which is rare.
It's a game best played with headphones late at night. The sound design does a lot of heavy lifting, and the payoff at the end genuinely surprised us.
